Drue Valdez

Services for Drue Legend Valdez, infant, of Temple will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 5, 2018 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Tom Chamberlain officiating. Burial will follow in procession to Hillcrest Cemetery.

Drue Legend Valdez died on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at a local hospital.

Drue Legend Valdez was born on November 13, 2017 to Adan Valdez and Sasha Anna-Marie Gandara in Temple, Texas. Drue loved his family and especially his brothers. He enjoyed being carried around by his brothers. Drue was a happy baby and rarely cried. He was alert and seemed as if he knew what was going on around him. His favorite song was "Angel Baby" sung by his mother. He always seemed to stay hungry and formula was not his favorite. Drue always had his hands folded together and seemed to be such a little gentleman. His first toy was a teddy bear that recited "Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep. If I should die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take." He may have been here only a short while, but will remain in our hearts forever. Till we see you again, you will be missed.

Survivors include his parents, Sasha Gandara and Adan Valdez; three brothers, David Valdez, Adan Valdez. Jr., and Alex Valdez; grandparents, Juana Valdez and husband Silvino, Stephanie Tovar and husband Patrick, and Roger Gandara; nine aunts and uncles; and twenty cousins.

Preceded in death are his grandpa, Mario Leza; uncle, David Leza and cousin, David Leza, Jr.

In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation to the Drue Valdez Headstone Fund at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home. Checks may be made payable to Sarah Gandara.

A special thank you to the staff of Baylor Scott and White Hospital NICU, and all those for their prayers and support during this difficult time.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5:00 - 7:00 pm Thursday, January 4. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7:00 pm with Deacon Joe Vela officiating.
