Doyle Thompson

Doyle Edward Thompson, 87 of Troy, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2009 in a local hospital. Funeral services will be 10:00am Tuesday at the First Baptist Church of Troy with Rev. Harlan Haines, and Rev. Tom Adams officiating. Burial will follow in Roberts Cemetery in Troy.

Doyle Thompson was born April 3, 1921 to Earl and Laura Thompson in Troy. After graduation from Troy High School, he attended Texas AM College and then went on to serve his country in WWII in the United States Army Air Corps in Panama City, Florida as Staff Sergeant. On January 15, 1944 he married Viola W. Goldman in Panama City. He worked as a farmer and stockman for the rest of his life. He served as one of the first Aldermen for the City of Troy upon incorporation in 1961. He was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Troy.

Preceding him in death are his parents, a sister, and a son, Glen Doyle Thompson. BRBRSurvivors include: wife of 65 years, Viola Thompson of Troy, son, Randall Thompson of Schertz, sister Earline Moore of Cameron, 3 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Temple V. A. Hospice Unit, 1901 Veterans Memorial Drive Temple, Texas 76504 or

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105BRBR

Visitation will be 6-8pm Monday at Harper Talasek Funeral Home in Temple.
