Temple

Dorothy S. Taylor, age 90, of Temple, TX, peacefully passed away on Monday, May 13, 2024, with her loved ones by her side.  Dorothy was the youngest of six children, born to Andrew Hollenbeck and Rossie Belle Shibley Beaver on February 8, 1934, in Kendaia, New York.  She was a homemaker most of her life, but also worked as a telephone operator at Scott and White Memorial Hospital and Clinic during the 1970s and 1980s.

Dorothy met Louis Taylor, the love of her life, in 1960 and they married shortly thereafter, moving around the country and overseas with Louis’s work with AAFES.  After he retired in the 1970s, they spent time traveling to visit family and friends around the country.  Dorothy enjoyed sewing and crafting, and together, she and Louis turned a hobby into another adventure with their beautiful creations by traveling to various craft shows to sell them, making new friends along the way.  Dorothy also enjoyed listening to music, playing the piano, enjoying the company of family and friends, working crossword and Sudoku puzzles, and being a grandma and great grandma who loved to spoil her babies.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, son Lawrence Wilson, grandson Andrew Leister, sister Edith Preston, brothers Francis, Allan, Herbert, and Grant Beaver, and her parents.  She is survived by her daughter Sherilyn Leister (Cecil) of Temple, TX, son Steven Wilson (Terri) of The Woodlands, TX,  step-son Louis (Bill) Taylor II (Connie) of Arlington, TX, step-daughter Donna Spellman (Ray); granddaughters Angela (Angie) Leister of Corpus Christi, TX, Anne Eason (Cole) of Salado, TX, Tara Brown (Charles) of San Antonio, TX, Jesslyn Wilson of the Woodlands, TX, and Camille Wilson of Houston, TX; step-grandsons Louis (Billy) Taylor II and Eric Taylor; great granddaughters Kaitlyn Leister of Corpus Christi, TX, Nina and Elizabeth Shinn of San Antonio, TX; great grandsons Michael Shikegawa of San Antonio, TX, and Conor Eason of Salado, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews in Kentucky, Michigan, and Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the National Alzheimer’s Association.
