Dorothy Boutwell

Dorothy Thornton Boutwell, 85, of Temple, Texas passed away at 11:00 a.m. on November 17, 2010 at Scott White Continuing Care in Temple. She was born October 7, 1925 to O. T. and Mary Ann Reimer Thornton. She graduated from Troy High School in 1943. She married J. T. Boutwell in 1945.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, J. T. Boutwell, her daughter, Ann Boutwell Smith and her parents.
She is survived by her brother, Johnnie D. Thornton and wife, Charlotte Ann Thornton of Westphalia her sister, Imogene Jones of Temple soninlaw, William L. Smith of Teague 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Dorothy was a member of Taylors Valley Baptist Church. Dorothy was active in club work for 55 years within the City Federation, General Federation, Capital Federation, Texas Federation. Bluebonnet, Spade and Shovel, Garden Club and the Past Presidents Club.
Family visitation will be Friday, November 19, 2010 at 57 p.m. at HarperTalasek Funeral Home in Temple.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at HarperTalasek Funeral Home in Temple . Pastor Jeff Loudin will officiate.
Serving as pallbearers will be her niece and nephews: Johnnie Thornton, Jr., Charles Thornton, James Jimmy Thornton, Jerry Thornton, Carla Thornton Valis and Craig Thornton.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Taylors Valley Baptist Church, 2497 W. FM 93 Hwy, Temple, Texas 76502.
