Doris "Jean" Machalek

Doris Jean Machalek, age 92 of Troy, passed away Sunday, May 23, 2021 at a local care facility in Temple. A memorial service will be held at 11 am Friday, May 28, 2021 at Troy United Methodist Church.

Jean was born on September 28, 1928 to J. S. and Wilna Sullivan McEldowney in Cedar Hill, Texas. She married Joe Warren Machalek on December 28, 1948. Jean graduated from Temple High School and attended Temple College for two years. She worked for Purifoy & Lueck Insurance, Anco Insurance, and Ward Insurance Companies over the years. Jean was a Girl Scout leader, Sunday school teacher, a member of the Professional Insurance Organization, and a member at Troy United Methodist Church.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Warren Machalek on April 10, 1990.

She is survived by her children, Katherine Turner, Karen Machalek, and Jo Anna McMurtry; sisters, Jaan Brown and Joan Frenzel; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Troy United Methodist Church.
