Doris Rechenthin

August 26, 1913 — November 1, 2015

Doris Mildred Hudspeth Rechenthin of Temple, TX passed away at her home on Sunday evening, November 1, 2015. She was born in Bishop, TX, the daughter of Edgar Fulton Hudspeth and Minnie Myrtle Smith Hudspeth, and grew up in Kingsville, TX. After graduating from Kingsville High School she attended Texas A & I. She married Clarence Andrew Rechenthin, a graduate of Texas A & M. They were married for sixty two years. His career with the Soil Conservation Service relocated the family between San Angelo, Ft. Worth and Temple. She is predeceased by her parents, husband, brother Edgar Floyd Hudspeth, and sister Lila Louise Hudspeth Awbrey.
Survivors include a son, David Edwin Rechenthin PhD and wife Ellen of Lake Winnebago, MO; daughters Carol Ann Wadley of Temple, TX, Marilyn Jane Ashley and husband Jim of Houston, TX.
She is survived by eight grandchildren and was extremely proud that all eight had college degrees. She is survived by sixteen great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and her beloved cat Hershey.
Doris was a blue ribbon quilter and a winning bridge player. She was a member of the Antique Glass Club and Daughters of American Revolution.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Baylor Scott and White Hospital where she was cared for with expertise and compassion, and to the Gentiva Hospice aide, nurses, and chaplain who in her last few days gave her dignity and comfort.
Memorial service will be held at the Western Hills Church of Christ on Saturday,
November 7, 2015 at 1pm with Scott Meyer officiating. She was a long time member of
the Church.
