Dorcas Ann Krauss, age 76 of Temple, passed away Monday, January 25, 2021 at a local hospital. Graveside services will be held at 1 pm Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at Hillcrest Cemetery in Temple.
Dorcas was born on June 9, 1944 to Ralph and Lorain Whetsel in Ft. Worth, Texas. She married David Krauss on June 8, 1968. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Oklahoma Baptist University. The first years of her career were spent as a Navy Nurse at Pensacola Naval Station. She retained an active license throughout her life. Dorcas dedicated her life to her “boys,” even homeschooling two. Dorcas was very active in her church spending many years leading a children’s ministry. The piano was another love of hers - which she successfully passed on to her grandson. She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and is undoubtedly basking in the glory of His presence now. She promised to meet several of her friends at the Eastern Gate in Jerusalem on a date yet-to-come. Her prayer would be that you join her there. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Belton, Liberty Hill Baptist Church, ARRL, the Organ Historical Society, and was a KMFA member.
Dorcas was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Lorain Whetsel.
Those left to honor and cherish her memory are her husband, David Krauss; sons, Jonathan Krauss and Jeremy Krauss; brother, John Whetsel; sisters, Rhoda Evans and Mary Bowersox; grandson, Zachary Krauss; niece, Lindsey Tuttle; and nephew, John Paul Evans.
