Dora Schmidt

Dora Nadine Schmidt passed away peacefully on May 17, at the age of 95, on Park Bend Health Care Center, Austin, Texas.
She was born on September 14, 1917, in Cameron, Texas, to Wallace and Carrie Rudder she attended Yoe High in Cameron, Texas, and married Robert Edward Schmidt of the Barclay community in 1942, who preceded her in death in 1972.
She was saved and became a Christian as a young girl in Cameron, Texas, and wa a member of a Baptist Church in Cameron, until her marriage she then became a member of Terrys Chapel Lutheran Church, in Wilson, Texas, after her marriage. She was a member there for many years before mobbing to Austin, after the death of Mr. Schmidt.
In addition to being a homemaker in her early married years, she was a farm wife, and had on child Delores Nell Schmidt Brandes.
Mom was truly one of these ladies who would be dubbed one who was the salt of the earth. Growing up in the depression, and marrying during that period in our history, she was a lady who loved God and her family. She worked hard, helping in the fields, and cared for Mr. Schmidt and Delores. She was a lady who read her Bible every day, and was a praying lady she was loving, kind, and cared for, and helped others she was a charitable, and patriot, and did not know complaint or disgust about anyone or anything. She and the people of her generation are the ones who really built this country agter the Depression and World War II. Mom and this older generation are to be revered and honored for their contributions to this country, and to the lives of others.
Mom Schmidt loved God, and the Lord Jesus, her family, and others she was truly, truly, a Proverbs 31 woman.
She is survived by one child Delores S. Brandes, and her husband, Michael L. Brandes, of Temple, Texas two granddaughters, Meredith Lee England, and her husband, Brian, of Frisco, Texas Bryanna Lee Kenney, and her husband, Paul, of Hickory Creek, Texas five great grandchildren, MacKenzie Lee Kenney, Augustus McCulloch England, Hogan Michael Kenney, and Georgia Lee Kenney, Madeleine Nadine England, Moms second great grandchild, passed on to Heaven at the age of four months.
Many thanks go to the wonderful folks at Park Bend Health Care Center, Austin, Texas, for their compassionate and loving care of mom during her last days, and especially to Delores, her daughter, who was a blessed to spend much time with her mom the last fifteen years of Moms life.
A graveside service will be Friday, May 24, 2013 at Bellwood Memorial Park Temple at 11 am with a visitation on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Harper Talasek Funeral Home Temple from 5:30 7pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Austin Texas Meals on Wheels, 3227 E. 5th St. Austin, Texas 78702.
