Donald Russell

Donald Ray Russell, 85, of Temple, died Thursday, June 12, 2008 in a local nursing center.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, June 16, 2008 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple with Rev. Gary Baxley officiating. Burial will be in Belfalls Cemetery.

Mr. Russell was born to Ernest L. and Eunice Vannatta Russell in Belfalls on May 30, 1923. He was a graduate of Troy High School and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He married Sue Whitlow on August 15, 1941. She preceded him in death on April 23, 1998. He was retired from the V.A. and the First National Bank of Temple. Don loved fishing, bowling, golf and all his children and grandchildren. He was known by all who knew him for his love of God and family and for being one of the kindest, most gentle people that anyone has ever met.

Survivors include two sons, David Russell and wife, Susan of Wimberly and Randy Russell of Huntington Beach, California; one daughter, Donna Stone and husband, Clint of Temple; one brother, Kenneth Russell of San Antonio; one sister, Ernestine Mims of Cincinnati, Ohio; ten grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home.
