Services for David Olivares, age 67 of Temple, will be 10 am Tuesday, February 22 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple with Deacon Joe Vela officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. Mr. Olivares passed away Monday, January 31, in Temple, Texas.
David Olivares was born October 18, 1954, in Temple, Texas to Alfonso Olivares and Lily Aguirre Olivares. He attended Temple schools. David served in the United States Marine Corps as a Rifleman during the 1970’s and was awarded the National Defense Ribbon and the Marksman Rifle Badge. He worked for the McLane Company for several years before going into the roofing business. He was a Catholic by faith.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Lily and Alfonso; his stepfather, Julian S. Martinez; a son, Gabriel Olivares; brothers, John Olivares and Alfonso Olivares; and a sister, Guadalupe Hughes.
He is survived by his wife, Aurelia Olivares; a daughter, Lori Olivares; a son, Nico Olivares; five grandsons, Sergio Lechuga, Jr., Julius Lechuga, Zadyn Anderson, Noe Lechuga, and Issac Sandoval; two granddaughters, Abbiegale Olivares and Alyssa Olivares; two sisters, Sophia Carrillo and husband Martin and Irene Yepez and husband Ruben; two brothers, Jose Luis Balderas and wife Hilda, and Raymond Aguirre and wife Luidvinna; many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews whom he loved as his own children; and many, many friends.
A time of visitation will be held Monday, February 21 from 5 – 7 pm at the funeral home. Recitation of Holy Rosary will be at 6 pm, with Deacon Joe Vela officiating.
