Mass of Christian Burial for David "Duke" Garcia, 71, of Temple, will be held at 10 AM Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. A time of visitation will be held Wednesday, April 25, 2018 from 5 to 7 PM with Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7 PM at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home of Temple.
Mr. Garcia passed away Sunday, April 22, in Temple.
Mr. Garcia was born on November 13, 1946 in Temple to Paulino Garcia and Rosa Castillo Reyna. He graduated from TSTC with an associate's degree in tailoring. He worked as an x-ray technician with Scott and White before retiring after 27 years. He was a member of the Brothers of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church where he served on the bereavement committee and helped with the ESL classes. He was known as the "Tea Man" during church activities as his responsibilities were making the tea and coffee. During his life he enjoyed being around his family and friends. He enjoyed watching his nieces and nephews play in their sports activities. He was a true blue Wildcat and Dallas Cowboys fan.
David was preceded in death by his mother, Rosa Castillo Reyna; father, Paulino Garcia; step-father, Pablo Reyna; sister, Juana McCoy; and brother, Robert Garcia.
He is survived by brothers Jesse Garcia and wife Rose, Paul Garcia, Johnny Garcia and wife Janie, Albert Garcia and wife Mary, Ralph Garcia, and Paulino Garcia; sisters Eva Garcia and Magdalena Brantley and husband Derrick as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple is in charge of arrangements.
