Daisy Thomas

Services for Daisy Fern Thomas, 87, of Temple, will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home.

Daisy Fern Thomas died on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at a local hospital.

Daisy Fern Thomas was born on April 2, 1929 to Cladie James Thomas Sr. and Levada Ellen Crow in Walters, Oklahoma. Ms. Thomas graduated from Walters High School. Daisy was married in Lawton, Oklahoma in 1947 to Larry D. Thomas Sr. who served in the U.S. Army as a medic in the Pacific Theater in WWII and they moved to Texas via Greyhound bus. Mrs. Thomas worked for Scott and White Hospital as an LVN and then at the federal building for the USDA soil conservation. Daisy was a member of American Legion Post #133 Ladies Auxiliary, the Senior Dance Club of Troy, Temple and Belton and a Charter Member of Heights Baptist Church. She loved dancing, quilting, crocheting and taking her grandchildren camping.

She ws preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 68 years; and two sisters, Mildred Louise Stengle and Mary Ellen Matlock.

Survivors include a son, Larry Dale Thomas, Jr. (Vicki); a daughter, Terry Hunt (Jim); a brother, Clay James Thomas Jr.; two sisters, Lenora Standford and Delores Dorton; six grandchildren, Tami Lorch, Anitra Brennan, Sandi Greaves, Heath Fowler, Bonnie Johnson, and Brad Hunt; and 13 great-grandchildren, Jordan Lorch, Cameron Lorch, Payton Lorch, Carson Lorch, Liam Brennan, Kade Brennan, Hannon Greaves, Devean Greaves, Kari Greaves, Chase Fowler, Kaiya Fowler, Colin Fowler, and Evelyn Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Daisy's name may be made to Heights Baptist Church.

Visitation will be held before the service from 10:00-11:00 am on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home.
