Memorial services for Cynthia Theresa Arredondo Julson, 66, of San Antonio, will be 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 23, 2014 at the First Assembly of God Church, 13435 West Avenue in San Antonio, Texas.
Cynthia was born August 14, 1948, in Texas City, Texas, the oldest of six children born to the late Alfonso Arredondo and Mary Helen Arredondo. She passed away in San Antonio, Texas on Tuesday, November 18, 2014, at her home.
Cynthia served in the United States Marine Corps traveling around the country doing recruiting. She was runnerup in a Miss Navy contest. During her time in the Marines she was diagnosed with Scleroderma and received a medical discharge.
She received her Bachelor of Psychology degree from Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana. She later attended SMU Law School.
Cynthia became a member of the Marine Corps League and was a lifelong supporter and advocate for battered and abused women. She was also active in the Bluebonnet Chapter of the Scleroderma Foundation.
But foremost, Cynthia was a faithful and devoted mother to Andrew and Russell. She married Ben Julson on July 9, 1993. They were married for 21 glorious years
Cynthia was preceded in death by her brother Benny Robert Arredondo. She is survived by her loving husband Ben Julson, sons Andrew Stacey Breaux of Temple, TX and Russell Jeanette Breaux of San Antonio, TX, Stepdaughter, Roberta Billy Williams of Mt. Juliet, TN, Rebecca Randy Tompkins of Hopkins, MO, Stepsons, Robert Karen Julson of Cedar Rapids, IA, Richard Pam Julson of Warner Robins, GA, 23 Grandchildren and 11 GreatGrandchildren. She is also survived by her mother, Mary Helen Arredondo Fisher and siblings, Pete Arredondo, Margaret Berry Dyess, James Arredondo, Rudolph Arredondo and lifelong friend Jeanene Cason, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Cynthias desire in everything she did was that Jesus would be glorified. Even in the midst of her illness, her smile and worship of the Lord radiated with appreciation for His love.
The family suggests that donation in Cynthias name be made to the Scleroderma Foundation TBC, 101 W. McDermott, Suite 115, Allen, Texas 75013.
HarperTalasek Funeral Home in Temple is in charge of arrangements.
