Mr. Curtis Younts, Sr. 80, of Belton, died Monday, June 1, 2009 in a Temple hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday at First United Methodist Church in Temple with Rev. Hubert Austin and Rev. Tom Robbins officiating. Burial will follow in Bellwood Memorial Park in Temple.
Mr. Younts was born to Luther and Hattie Ruth Dennis Younts in Temple on September 23, 1928. He was a lifelong resident of Bell County. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II. Prior to his retirement, he was engaged in ranching in Bell County for many years, and was a lifetime member of the Texas Hereford Associa-tion. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Temple, and the Dawson Fellowship Class of the church. Mr. Younts was a charter member of the Exchange Club of Temple and the Odd Fellows. He also held membership in the Sons of the American Revolution, the Sons of George Washington at Valley Forge, and the Sons of the Republic of Texas. Following the death of his first wife, Francis Irene Hanson Younts on May 2, 1992, he married May Dell Yeager Newton in Bedias, Texas on October 6, 1996.
Survivors include his wife, May Dell Younts of Belton; three sons, Curtis Younts, Jr. of Rogers, George Newton of Bedias, and Jay Newton of Lake Limestone; two daughters, Joy Dell Moeller of Waller and Kay Herren of Marquez; one brother, Donal Younts of Dawson; one sister, Annie Ilene Beutler of Temple; fifteen grand-children; and several great grandchildren. In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers.
Visitation will be Thursday from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
