Eddy Helbert passed from this life on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at a local care facility. Mr. Helbert was born October 15, 1944 in Temple to Clyde E. and Edith Helbert.

Eddy was a resident of Temple and the Central Texas area his entire life. Mr. Helbert was a long-time member of Western Hills Church of Christ. He worked for Santa Fe Rail Road for more than 27 years. He was a member of Temple High School Class of ‘63 where he was a part of the football team. Since then he had been a life-long fan of Temple Wildcat Football. He also enjoyed watching his University of Texas Longhorns and Dallas Cowboys. At heart he was an outdoorsman, fishing and hunting whenever he was able with friends and family. Mr. Helbert loved to cook and eat all of the different wild game he would bring home from hunting trips. He enjoyed shooting sport competitions, he especially enjoyed coaching his daughter through many different types of competitions. Gunsmithing was great hobby of Eddy's and after his retirement he became a well-known and distinguished gunsmith in our area.

At the heart of it all Eddy was a kind and gentle man. He loved animals of all kinds, especially his many pets throughout the years. Eddy was young at heart and children were always drawn to him. Above all else Eddy's greatest treasure in life was his family. He was a family man at heart that always provided for those that he loved.

Mr. Helbert was preceded in death by parents and a brother, Johnny Helbert.
