Clarence Brooks Hastings, Jr., 88, of Temple passed away on December 23, 2016 at Creekside Terrace Rehabilitation Center in Belton, Texas. Services for Mr. Hastings will be Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 11:00 am at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple, Texas with Minister Scott Meyer of Western Hills Church of Christ. Burial will be in Temple Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Mr. Hastings was born on August 17, 1928 to Clarence and Sophenia Baker Hastings in Temple, Texas. He was the oldest of five boys.
He married Dorothy Virginia Mays on June 8, 1947 and they raised two daughters, Virginia Ann Hastings and Brenda L. Hastings. He attended Temple schools and graduated from Abilene High School in Abilene, Texas. He later attended Temple Junior College.
Mr. Hastings made his home in Temple, with a short time in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. He worked with his father at Hastings TV and Radio Repair Shop and after the TV Shop closed, he worked for many years at the Temple Daily Telegram as a newspaper carrier. He was a member of Western Hills Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Glenn, Paul, and Kenneth Hastings, a daughter, Virginia Ann Hastings, and a grandson, Clifford Honeycutt.
Mr. Hastings is survived by his wife of Belton and a daughter, Brenda Hastings Deaver and her husband Kevin of Colorado, granddaughters Brandy Ford of Dallas and Jenifer Parker of Belton, grandsons Randal Honeycutt of CA, Dustin Hastings of Dallas, and Joshua Moore of Houston, four great granddaughters and a brother, Guy B. Hastings.
Mr. Hastings loved many simple things in life. Football, the Dallas Cowboys, and Temple Wildcats were his favorites, along with Mikeska's BBQ, wrestling, drives to the lake, and Christmas.
Thank you to the staff at Creekside Terrace and especially his nurse Denise, and the staff of Scott and White Medical Center and Scott and White Hospice.

Visitation will be held before the service from 9:00 am- 11:00 am at the funeral home.
