Clara King

Clara M King, 85 of Temple, passed away Sunday, January 23, 2011 at her residence. Funeral service will be 10:00am Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at HarperTalasek Funeral Home in Temple. Burial will follow at 3:00pm in Beehouse Cemetery in Gatesville.

Clara King was born February 2, 1925 to Henry and Millie Reed Smith in Stephenville, Texas. She graduated from Lampasas High School and attended Temple Junior College. She was married to Dennis Edward King on October 7, 1944 in Killeen, Texas. Mrs. King retired from Temple Independent School District where she worked with the Special Education Program. She helped establish and taught Sunshine Haven class for special needs. She also worked for Scott White Hospital for many years. She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 2002 and son Dennis E King J.R. in 1984.

Survivors include sons Henry DeWayne King of Temple and James Anthony King of Ft. Worth, daughters Flora Lynn Hasty of Belton, Evelyn Deloise Dixon of Killeen, and Martha Esteen King of Temple, brother James Smith of Temple, 10 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5:007:00pm Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at HarperTalasek Funeral Home in Temple.
