Services for Charles Fredrick Owens Sr., 74, of Temple, will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 21, at the Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple. Burial will occur in Norwich, New York at the Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Mr. Charles Frederick Owens died on Friday, January 13, 2017 at a local hospital.
Charles F. Owens was born on August 10, 1942 to Helen Holiday and Fred Owens in Norwich, New York. Charles proudly served in the U.S. Army until his retirement in 1988. He enlisted as infantrymen in 1968. He met and married the love of his life, Kathryn L. Brethen in 1991. Charles enjoyed woodworking by making furniture. He loved cooking and spending time with his family. He collected regional crystal and lion figurines. He was very proud being a Veteran of the Vietnam Era. He was a fan of the Redskins. He was a Protestant by faith. He was a member of the local VFW and American Legion Post #133.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Kathryn L. Owens; five sons, Dexter Owens, Williams Owens and wife Bon Shearee, Charles Owens, Jr. and wife Angela, Harry Owens, and Raymond Owens; six daughters, Sharron Indrogo and husband Leonel, Robin Owens-Parker, Hattie Pugh and husband, Khris Kearney, Tracy Owens, and Wanda Owens-Thomas; and numerous grand children and great-grandchildren.
Visitiation will be held before the service from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm at the funeral home.
