Charles Clinton Humphrey, 79 of Temple, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2024, with his loving wife of 61 years, Linda by his side.

He was born on July 30, 1944, in Belton, Texas and attended Temple schools, later earning his GED.

Charles’ passion for car racing led to him owning and operating Humphrey Automotive Machine Shop for over 20+ years. He specialized in building high performance racing engines for customers throughout Central Texas. Charles’ father was a bull/bronc rider champion which sparked his enthusiasm for watching the rodeo channel, he also loved raising Boer goats.

Preceding him in death is his father, Clinton “Bud” Humphrey; mother; stepfather; and a brother.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Linda (White) Humphrey; sons, Darryl Humphrey and his two children, Kerri Smith and Michael Humphrey; David Humphrey and son, Scott; Guy Humphrey and daughter in law, Jennifer Humphrey and their son, Garrett; daughters, Nan Humphrey and husband, Monroe McAdoo and Nan’s children, Ashley & Jacob Hall; Susie Keilman and husband, Doug and their two children, Tressie and Ryan Keilman; Diane McCann and husband, Vernon and their son, Colton McCann; 11 great grandchildren; stepmother, Donna Humphrey Hester; and one sister.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Charles’ name can be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital www.stjude.org or due to his patriotism, The Wounded Warriors Project www.support.woundedwarriorproject.org.

The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to the wonderful first responders of the Temple Police Dept, Temple Fire Dept, & the EMT’s that assisted them.

A Celebration of Life in Charles’ honor will be held at a later date.
