Services for Charles D. Hearell, 66 of Temple, will be on Friday, July 15, 2016 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple at 10:00 am. Mr. Hearell passed away on July 11, 2016 in Temple, TX.
Charlie was born March 26, 1950 to James D. and Zelma Lea Smith Hearell in Dallas, TX. He was raised in Texas but also lived for several years in Tolu, Kentucky with his beloved grandparents Roy and Nelle. After graduating from Crittenden County High School in Kentucky, Charlie returned to Texas and began learning his trade as a butcher at Safeway Grocery in Temple. It was here that he met and married Judy Schneider. Through thick and thin, they were each other's one true love. The two expanded their family with the addition of two daughters, Stacey Renee and Jennifer Lea. Charlie was a loving and devoted father and was supportive and proud of every endeavor and achievement of his girls. Charlie had an incredible work ethic and honed his craft while working at Safeway Grocery, Albertsons, and finally HEB, for whom he worked for over 20 years before retiring.
As much as Charlie loved being a father, his greatest joy was being a grandfather. He attended every practice, game and school function that he was able. His heart was so full of love for his four granddaughters, that there was not a piece of furniture or wall in his home that did not hold a picture of them.
Charlie was a loyal friend and counted some of his best memories as the times spent with Jerry, Billy and Steve.
Charlie was a life-long fisherman and avid gardener. He loved Pearl Beer, music by Diana Ross and the Supremes, fishing on Belton Lake, and trips to Corpus with his wife and grandchildren.
Charlie is preceded in death by his parents James and Zelma, his brother James, and his beloved wife Judy.
Survivors include his brother Richard, daughters Stacey Hawkins and husband John, Jennifer Williams and husband Michael, and the treasures of his life; his four granddaughters, Samantha Williams, McKayla Williams, Maddie Hawkins and Addyson Williams.
The family requests that memorials be made to Neema House in support of his niece, Kelly Erdman and her family's work with orphans in Tanzania which he whole-heartedly supported.
