A memorial service for Celia Ann Parsons, 64, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at HarperTalasek Funeral Home in Temple with Lieutenant Edward Buddy Best officiating. A tribute ceremony by the Temple Police Department will follow.
Mrs. Parsons died Wednesday, July 16, 2014, under hospice care at Scott and White Hospital.
Celia was born September 1, 1949, in Fort Worth to Dr. and Mrs. Edward P. Maddox, III. She has been a Temple resident for the last 30 years.
She served the Temple Police Department from 1981 2007 and worked as a patrol officer, detective and warrant officer during her 25 year career. She was the first woman police officer to retire from the Temple Police Department.
Celia was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Edward P. Maddox, IV.
Beloved wife and mother, Celia is survived by her husband Veron K. Parsons daughters Kara Dunphy and husband, Kevin, of N.C., Lorelei Livingston and husband, Richard, of Belguim, and Natasha Morrison and husband, Gene of Kingwood grandchildren Brittany, Jessica, Geoffrey, Brandon, Veron, Maddox and Gage sisters Suzan Pechacek and Brenda Renfrew brother Ronny Dressler other relatives and her Temple Police family.
Because of her lifelong love of animals, the family suggests donations in Celias name be made to the Temple Animal Shelter, 620 Mama Dog Circle, Temple, Texas 76501.
