Carolyn J. Salac
Loved School
Carolyn had a special love for anything to do with school. She was proud that she attended Seaton School and Temple High School. She used to look through her Temple High Cotton Blossom yearbook frequently. She monitored Deborahs teaching career with great interest. Carolyn once asked, What kind of grades are you giving your students and also said, Cs and Ds are passing, too She was proud of David Edward when he first learned to read and write and liked to look over his report cards.

Enjoyed Outings
Carolyn loved to go places. She soaked up the entire atmosphere and remembered every detail. She would talk about outings for days afterward to everyone at the nursing home. She went to Sea World twice. She called it See the World She referred to most of the creatures there as fish. She really enjoyed Cameron Park Zoo in Waco. Family dinners and parties were high on her list, as well as shopping trips to WalMart.

Her Nursing Home Family
Carolyn often said of Weston Inn, This is my home. She usually pronounced it Western Inn. She lived there since June of 2000. Carolyn had a special relationship with the nursing home employees the girls as she called them. They used to joke with her about being her sisters or her being their mother. Carolyn had her own special names for most of them and they learned to answer to it. If you made the mistake of calling them by their real name, shed correct you and tell you who they really were. She had a habit of counting and naming off all her pills by color, size, and shape before she would take them. Carolyn always knew which pills to take at a certain time and the girls just patiently waited while she went through her routine. Carolyn liked to park her wheelchair by the South Hall nurses station and monitor everything. She was also known to sneak extra snacks from the food cart when she thought no one was watching. For many years she participated in most of the nursing home activities such as church services and parties. Carolyn played Bingo faithfully until she hit an unlucky streak and started to lose. After that she got mad and refused to play again. In recent days on of the girls said, We love Carolyn, shes always been very special to us, and such a blessing.

Faced Challenges
Carolyn had a very happygolucky personality. She made the best of every situation before her, be it good or bad. She enjoyed a lot of great times with her family and friends. As a teenager, she endured a nervous breakdown and shock therapy, things that altered her life forever. In recent years she dealt with numerous health issues that got her down, but not out. This past Wednesday when she began to have difficulty breathing, Carolyn smiled nonstop as David Edward sang songs to her to cheer her up.

Loyalty to Family and Friends
One of Carolyns favorite people was her niece Deborah Hejl. Carolyn was proud of Deborahs career as a teacher. She visited Carolyn almost every day after school and told her about everything that happened in school that day. Carolyn listened very intently. On a monthly basis, Deborah changed the pictures and decorations in Carolyns room. Carolyn always looked forward to this. Another of her favorite people was Melissa Hejl. Melissa did so many things to make Carolyns life happier parties, trips to special places, outings to the beauty shop, restaurants, and shopping. Carolyn was a person of few words, but her reactions said it all. She lit up when she heard news about her relatives. She was proud of cards, gifts, or visits by family and friends. Time, distance, or change in circumstances did not bother her. If you were a special person to Carolyn Salac, she loved you forever.
