Carmela Tamez

Services for Carmela C. Tamez, 84, of Temple will be 10:00 am Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Tom Chamberlain officiating. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Rosebud, Texas.

Carmela C. Tamez passed away on Tuesday, May 5th at a local nursing care facility.

Carmela was born on April 11, 1931 to Ventura Cobos and Francisca Padilla in Rosebud, Texas. She married Juan V. Tamez in 1948 and they started their life together in Rosebud then later moved to Temple and started their family in 1949. Carmela was a supervisor in housekeeping for the Four Seasons Nursing Home for over 20 years. After retirement she worked for Temple Independent School District as a housekeeper. A few of her favorite things were plants and flowers, Spanish Dancing, soap operas, and going to the Basilica in San Juan, Texas. She was always there for family and friends with a listening shoulder. She was all about the Holidays, especially Easter with the family Bar-B-Q's. Carmela was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She leaves a message behind for her family, although she has passed away she wants you to know "she's okay".

Carmela is preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Carmen Sisneros; husband; daughter, Rosa Menchaca; and brothers, John Sisneros, and Felix Sisneros, two great-grandchildren; Kinley Jo Castilleja and Noel Nash.

Survivors include sons; Juan "Sonny" C. Tamez and wife Rita, Robert C. Tamez and wife Kim; daughters, Elvira T. Castilleja and husband Lee, Dora Tamez and husband Bob Bowne; brothers, Ben Cobos and wife Virginia, Raymond Sisneros and wife Linda, Jessie Sisneros and wife Mary, Andrew Sisneros and wife Susie; sisters, Benita Portillo, Virginia Palamino and husband Michael; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

Visitaion will be from 6 - 8 pm with Rosary recited at 7 pm on Friday May 8th at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home chapel with Deacon Joe Vella officiating.
