Carlton "Corky" Carter Dragoo, 72, of Troy passed away August 30, 2016, in Temple. Services will be held at 10am Friday, September 2nd, at Harper Talasek Funeral Home with burial to follow at North Belton Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2016, from 5pm-8pm at the funeral home in Temple.
Corky was born October 31, 1943, in Rogers, TX to Barney and Prebble Dragoo. He attended and graduated from Temple High School in 1962. He served as football and baseball manager during his time in high school and was forever proud to be a "Fighting Temple Wildcat". He married Sarah Williams in August 1964.
After high school, Corky worked for Walgreens Drug Company for 3 years before being drafted into the Army in 1966. He achieved the rank of Sergeant and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal and the Combat Infantry Badge for his service in Vietnam. Corky then returned to Temple and began his 35 year career with the U.S. Postal Service.
Corky was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, R.B. Dragoo and Frank Dragoo; three sisters, Iva Jean Hixson, Joyce Dragoo Brewster, and Corine Campbell.
His is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sarah Dragoo of Troy, three sons all of Troy, Kevin Dragoo and wife Kim, Brad Dragoo and wife Katie, Lucas Dragoo and wife Kaitlin. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Leanne, Shelby, Kaitlynn, Quinn, Courtney, Jake, Connor, and Carlie; four brothers: Daniel Dragoo and Darrell Dragoo of Temple, Paul Dragoo of Denton, and James David Dragoo of Troy, and three sisters: Elsie Bryant of Roland, AR, Dixie Stewart of Denton, and Dorothy Bland of Temple.
