Dean was born November 3, 1926 to Berry and Eula Adams Ligon in Bell County, Texas. She met her husband, Jack Chalmers in Temple, Texas and married in 1946. They moved to Garland, Texas for a better life and to start their careers. She began working at St. Regis and retired in 1980. They then moved to Morgan’s Point Resort in Belton, Texas. She took on a new role with the City of Temple Water Dept. officially retiring in the mid 90's. Dean was the oldest of her 6 sisters and brother and was the matriarch of her family. Never having children of her own, she was always more than just an aunt to all her nieces and nephews. Dean was very selfless and always helped her family greatly throughout her lifetime. She was always there for all that held a special place in her heart. She was an active member in church and always included family members in this walk of life. She was always teaching others about the good Lord. Dean loved gathering with her family, enjoyed cooking and visiting with everyone. She loved going on trips to see family in Louisiana and Florida. Dean enjoyed going to the deer lease with her husband and family, putting out deer feeders, bar-b-que and visiting. Dean was meek and quiet, however she was vibrant and strong-willed. She was a woman others in her family confided in and looked up to. As Dean was getting older and needed extended care she moved to a nursing facility in Pflugerville, Texas to be closer to her niece. She remained close by her niece until she was called home to the Lord.
Dean was preceded in death by her parents, Berry and Eula Adams Ligon; her husband, Jack Chalmers; and siblings, Blanche Gisclair, Katherine Kiser, Jimmy Ligon, Shirley Struble, Rose Moseley, Emma Thompson, and Thelma Price.
She is survived by her numerous, beloved nieces and nephews.
