Graveside services for Billy Don Mayes, 72, of Troy will be 10:00 am Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery.

Billy Don Mayes passed away May 29th at his residence.

Billy was born on April 28, 1943 to Lee Allen Mayes, Sr., and Opal Gladys Mayes in Temple in what is now called Industrial Park. He was the sixth of eight children. Billy married his one true love, Eve Jezek, in April 2004. He was a self-employed contractor in the construction industry, later worked and retired from Surplus Warehouse, and spent the last seven years transporting railroad workers for Renzenberger in Temple. Billy loved to sing and play his guitar and did so with several local bands. He cherished his wife and family.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lee Mayes; four sisters, Darlene Bashall, Doris Walters, Alma Fountain, and Molly Wilson.

Survivors include his wife, two sons from his first marriage; Billy Perkins and Kevin Perkins; two children from later marriage, Steven Mayes and Kathy Mayes Adams and her husband Dewain Fertsch; five grandchildren; Alyssa Adams, Logan Adams, Mason Mayes, Jetta Fertsch, and Milo Fertsch; one brother Garland Mayes; and one sister, Mary Strong.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 3rd from 6-8 pm at the Funeral Home.
