Bill Malone

Graveside services for William Darrel Malone, 87, of Little River-Academy, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, November 14, at Greathouse Cemetery with Brother Brent Boatwright officiating.

Mr. Malone died Wednesday, November 11, 2015, at his home.

He was born September 28, 1928 in Davilla, Texas to Romie and Sarah Malone. He attended school in Davilla and graduated from Bartlett High School in 1946. He married Lila Ruth Davis on April 1, 1952 in Heidenheimer, Texas. Mr. Malone served in the Naval Air Corps from 1946 - 1954. He also worked for American Desk, Best Rite Chalkboard, and the Ponderosa Motel.

Mr. Malone was preceded in death by a brother, Donell Malone.

Survivors include his wife, Lila Ruth; daughters Sarah Love and husband Ricky, Janet Kelso and husband C.E., Patti Engelke and husband Jerome; sons Ricky Malone and wife Vicki, and Mickey Malone and wife Valerie; sisters Maydelle Kelly of Temple and Opal Nutt of Marlin; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. on Friday, November 13 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Malone's name may be made to Scott and White Hospice and Home Care.
