Betty Louise Rogers was born on November 2, 1929, in the town of Metcalf, Oklahoma. On December 2, 2024, at the age of 95 she went to be with the Lord from her home in Temple, Texas.
Betty was fondly known as the neighborhood grandmother, a title she wore with immense pride and love. Her home was always open to the many children in the neighborhood, where they found a second home filled with warmth, laughter, and the sweet aroma of her beloved fudge. When sickness struck, her homemade chicken and dumplings were a remedy that warmed both body and soul.
In the early mornings she could be found at the kitchen table, with a hot cup of tea, immersed in the pages of her Bible. This was her sacred time, a moment of reflection and connection to her faith that guided her throughout her life. Betty's children and grandchildren have countless cherished memories of time spent together, filled with stories, laughter and the lessons she imparted with love and the occasional "mean eye".
Betty is survived by her three sons: David (Peggy) Rogers III, Daniel (Linda) Rogers, & Daryl Rogers. Four Grandchildren: David (Tammy) Rogers IV, Justin (Mickaila) Rogers, Jarrod Brown, & Laura Rogers. Eight Great-Grandchildren: Makenzie, Lily, Selah, Eliana, Ashlynn, Remi, Kailey, & Jordan. Two Great Great-Grandchildren: Ezra & Luke.
Betty is preceded in death by her beloved husband David Rogers Jr. Siblings VJ, Joe, Robbie, & Tennessee Routh.
A celebration of Betty’s life will be held on December 12, 2024, with a visitation beginning at 10 am at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple, followed by a graveside service at Temple Garden of Memories at 12 pm noon.
