Graveside services for Bessie Lynn Cater, 80, of Belton, formerly of St. Petersburg, Florida will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 4th at Bellwood Cemetery with the Reverend Johnny Miller officiating.
Ms. Cater died Sunday, February 2, at a local care facility.
She was born April 29, 1933, in Temple, to Sam Houston Cater and Eunice Woodall Cater. She graduated from Temple High School in 1950 and attended Southwest Texas State University. In 1974, Ms. Cater moved to St. Petersburg, Florida, where she was the Executive SecretaryAdministrative Assistant to the President of Gulf Broadcasting and later Anchor Media. She was also the records coordinator and paralegal for General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems. She returned to the Temple area in 2011 and was a member of Oak Park United Methodist Church.
Ms. Cater was preceded in death by her parents a brother, Sam H. Cater, Jr. and two sisters, Dorothy Gilmore and Doris Smith.
She is survived by a sister, Ann Cater Ramsey six nieces, Suzanne Moran, Wynn Smith, Donna Singleton, Robi Lee, Kim Cater Joseph, and Lynda Rieger and three nephews, Joe Cater, Bruce Cater, and Paul Smith.
The family requests that donations in Ms. Caters name be made to Oak Park United Methodist Church, 5505 South 31st St., Temple, Texas 76502.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the dedicated staff and nurses of Park Place Manor in Belton, of Scott and White Memorial Hospital in Temple, and of Odyssey Hospice in Temple.
