Bertha Brown

May 5, 1923 — March 9, 2016

Bertha Peter Brown passed from this life on March 9, 2016, with her husband of 67 years at her side. She was born on May 5, 1923, in a small village in Bavaria and married her husband, E. Corum Brown in Regensburg in August, 1948. After returning to Texas and Fort Hood in 1951 they settled and made their home in Temple. Among the proudest moments of her life were the day she received her American citizenship and the day of her daughter's birth.

For her, life always centered around her family and she gave to them the love and care they needed to grow strong. Her garden and the beautiful flowers she grew reflected the kindness of her nature. She considered the job she held for nineteen years at Scott & White Clinic to be a privilege. There she informed, encouraged, and comforted many and formed friendships that lasted through her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her sister, but her memory will be cherished and live on in the lives of her husband, her daughter, her son-in-law, her grandson, her brother and many other family members and friends.

A private graveside service for the family was held on March 22 at the Central Texas Veterans Cemetery in the Killeen-Fort Hood area. Deacon Julian Tyboroski of the Church of the Visitation in Westphalia officiated over the Rite of Committal. A Memorial Mass will be offered at a later time.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that commemorative contributions be made to Children's Miracle Network via McLane Children's - Scott & White, a charity for which Bertha and her husband volunteered for many years.
