Beatriz R. Castilleja, age 91 of Temple, passed away Friday, May 29, 2020 at a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10 am Friday, June 12, 2020 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 707 South 6th Street, Temple, with Father Francisco Rodriguez officiating. Burial will follow in procession to Hillcrest Cemetery.
Beatriz R. Castilleja, was born on July 30, 1928 to Juan and Refugia Ramirez in San Marcos, Texas. She married Amadeo Castilleja, Sr., and had 10 beautiful children. Beatriz was a lifelong resident of Temple and Rosebud. She was a devoted loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved cooking for her wonderful large family, it was a blessing for her. She also enjoyed crocheting and making so many beautiful things of assorted colors for family and friends. She was known for her meaningful blessing she gave as she did a gesture making the sign of the cross, as you left from visiting. A couple of her favorite pastimes were watching her novellas (day & night times stories) praying her rosary for all her loved ones. She loved when the family had gatherings, because she couldn’t wait to see what was for dessert. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Temple and a member of the Guadalupana’s Society in her earlier years at St. Ann’s Catholic church in Rosebud, Texas.
She is preceded in death by parents; her loving husband, Amadeo Castilleja, Sr.; three brothers, Tomas Ramirez, Julio Ramirez & Melquiades Ramirez; a sister, Trinidad “Trina” Martinez, two sons, Mario Castilleja and Jose Luis Castilleja; and a grandson, Mark Castilleja.
Those left to honor and cherish her memory are; six sons, Amadeo Jr. and wife Stella Castilleja, Carlos Castilleja & Lara Jonardi, Ricardo and Delia Castilleja, Sr., Raymond Castilleja, Rudy and Sheila Castilleja, Sr., Ray and Rebecca Castilleja; two daughters, Delia Garza and Laura Ann and Victor Cortez; twenty-four grandchildren, thirty-seven great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren and three sisters, Eulalia Rodriguez “LaLa” Stockton California, Juanita Cervantes Houston Texas & Lupe Martinez Hillsboro Texas.
A time of visitation with social distancing precautions, will be held from 4 - 6 pm with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 5 pm on Thursday, June 11, 2020 at the Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple.
Due to COVID-19 concern, with that restriction in mind, visitors are welcome to come into the funeral home to pay their respects. Mask is not mandatory, but recommend to wear for the safety of others.
