Barbara Thomas

Barbara Dove Thomas, age 91, our beloved Mother, was called to her eternal resting place on December 27, 2020. She entered this world on September 16, 1929, in Sharp, Texas, born to Robert Lyon and Ila Dean Lyon.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Boyd Thomas; and her siblings, Jerry Lyon & Robert Lyon Jr.

She is survived by children Wallace Thomas, Becky Adcock (Jon), Richard Thomas (Nellie); her grandchildren Andy (Lisa), Meredith, Austin, Robert, & Lane; and her great-grandchildren Clark, Gemma, & Paxton.

Barbara moved to Temple as a young woman to attend Scott & White nursing school. She had a long career as a nurse beginning at Scott & White working in a variety of positions. After obtaining advanced degrees, she moved to the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor as a nursing instructor where she subsequently retired. She was a long time member of First United Methodist Church in Temple. She enjoyed visiting with family, her dogs, reading, and the occasional casino trip.

Due to the current pandemic, her family will hold a private graveside service at Hillcrest cemetery.
