Barbara Ann Ortega

Barbara Ann Ortega, 64, of Moody, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on September 5, 2025. She was born on August 3, 1961, in Dallas, Texas, to Angel Gonzales and Alice Villanueva.

Barbara married the love of her life, Leopoldo Ortega, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and family. She attended school through the 11th grade and devoted her life to her family, especially cherishing the moments spent with her grandchildren.

Barbara enjoyed dancing, camping, riding bikes and even crawdad fishing, She found joy in simple pleasures like eating out with her husband every weekend, spending time outdoors, and having family get togethers. Her greatest happiness came from making memories with her husband, children and grandchildren, who will carry her spirit forward with love.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Angel Gonzales and Alice Villanueva and her stepmother Mary Mendoza; her brother, Jimmy Gonzales; and her sisters, Amanda Estrada and Rosalie Ortega; grandchildren Jesse Ray Gonzales Jr and Issac Espinoza

Barbara is survived by her devoted husband, Leopoldo Ortega; her children, Eric Gonzales, Jesse Gonzales, Alberto Jaimes, Leopoldo Ortega Jr, Maria Jaimes, Simona Ortega, and Barbara Ortega; her brothers, Johnny Gonzales, Angel Gonzales, Arnold Gonzales, Bobby Gonzales, and Jesse Gonzales; her sisters, Gloria Cervantez, Donna Barron, and Yvonna Cuevas, She also leaves behind 25 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense pride and joy.

Barbara will be remembered for her warmth, her fun-loving nature, and the way she always put family first. Her legacy of love will live on through all those who were blessed to know her.
