Barabara Kurecka

October 13, 1943 — November 19, 2025

Barbara E. Kurecka 82, a beloved wife, mother, Nee, great Nee, and friend to many, went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 19, 2025, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. Born on October 13, 1943, in Cameron, Texas, Barbara was known for her bright smile, warm hugs, and the gentle, caring spirit that touched all who knew her.

Barbara retired from Dillard’s, where she took tremendous pride in her work. Her dedication to customer service and her commitment to excellence earned her frequent recognition as a top performer in sales. She cherished the connections she built with coworkers and customers throughout her career.

As much as she loved her work, Barbara loved her family even more. Holidays and family gatherings were her greatest joy, and no celebration was complete without her famous homemade potato salad or her signature broccoli and rice —each prepared with the same warmth she shared so freely.

Barbara and her beloved husband, Larry, were longtime members of Saint Luke’s Catholic Church. She was active in the women’s society and served for many years as a Sunday morning greeter, welcoming parishioners with her signature smile. Through their participation in the Focolare Word of Life Group, Barbara formed deep, lasting friendships—this cherished circle affectionately known as “the little family.”

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Janie and Raymond, and her brother, Gary. She is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Larry; her daughter Kym and husband Tracy; her son Dwayne and wife Sherri; and her daughter Shari and husband Nathan. She was the proud grandmother of eight grandchildren—Justin, Jeremy, Garett, Ben, Haley, Natalie, Nate, and Lauren—and four great-grandchildren: Rayleigh, Gunner, Anna, and Emily. She is also survived by her sister Debbie, her brother Jimmy, and a loving extended family of in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Luke’s Catholic Church (2807 Oakdale Dr) on December 1st at 10:00 a.m. with the rosary recited prior to the service. Following the service and interment, there will be a bereavement meal in the parish hall, where all are welcome to join the family for a slide show and fellowship.
