Arthur E. Schwalm, 93, of Temple, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2014. A graveside service will be held March 6, 2014 at Central Texas Veterans Cemetery at 3:00 p.m.
Arthur was born on April 6, 1920 in Brownville, Texas to Oscar Charles and Cora Kleine Schwalm.
Arthur served in the United States Army during World War II as a medic. He married Helen Roxy Hatfield, the love of his life, on January 5, 1947. He worked as an xray technician and retired from the Temple VA Hospital in 1982.
Arthur was best known to all for his constant smile and loving words. He loved the game of golf and making friends everywhere he went. He will be loved and missed by many.
Arthur is survived by his wife, Helen, of Temple, his sister, Virginia Reid of Colorado, his daughter, Dana Wood and soninlaw William Wood of Temple, his granddaughter, Whitney Onyango and her husband, David of Temple, his grandson, Weston Wood, his wife Tara, and their daughter Braelyn Rae of Haslet, Texas.
The family would like to express special thanks to all of those who went above and beyond when caring for Arthur during his last days living at William R. Courtney Texas State Veterans Home.
Visitation will be held at 68 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at HarperTalasek Funeral Home in Temple.
