A Mass of Christian Burial for Arnoldo Mendoza, 52, of Temple, will be 10 AM Tuesday, April 3, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Alirio Fernandez-Bueno officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Arnoldo was born in Mirer y Noriega, Nuevo Leon in Mexico on December 18, 1965 to Abelardo Sr. and Emma Mendoza. He lived in Temple most of his life. He was a proud graduate of Temple High School. As a young man, Arnoldo was a talented athlete that loved baseball, soccer, boxing, and enjoyed working out. He carried his love of sports with him for the rest of his life. In his later years he was known for his love of Jack in the Box cheese burgers. He spent many hours watching the great old western movies such as the Rifleman.
He was Catholic by faith and he loved listening to the good word. He had a strong walk with the lord, always asking the hard and meaningful questions of his faith. He lived most of his life with a long-term illness that he fought courageously. Even though he suffered an illness, he always had a kind and joyful spirit. In life his greatest treasure was his family and especially his nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his parents, Abelardo Sr. and Emma Mendoza; sisters, Dora Dominguez and husband Raul, Dianira Bourgeois and husband David, Nora Silva and husband Augustin; brothers Abelardo Mendoza Jr. and wife Celia and Gildardo Mendoza; and numerous nieces and nephews.
