Services for Amadeo Castilleja, Sr., 94, of Temple, will be at 2:00 pm on Friday, February 24, at St. Mary Catholic Church with Father Steve Saucer officiating. Burial will follow in procession to Hillcrest Cemetery.
Mr. Amadeo Castilleja, Sr. passed away on Monday, February 20, 2017 at a local hospital.
Amadeo Castilleja, Sr., was born on November 20, 1922 to Julian and Donata Castilleja in Marlin, Texas. Amadeo was a lifelong resident of Temple and Rosebud. In his early years he was a migrant field worker in West, Texas. He met and married the love of his life, Beatriz Ramirez. Mr. Castilleja retired after 20 years working for American Desk. His passion was to dance, cook, and joke. He was a family man and a Dallas Cowboy Fan. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.
He is preceded in death by parents; a brother, Juan Castilleja; a half-brother, Pete Villanueva; three half-brothers and a half-sister from California; two sons, Mario Castilleja and Jose Luis Castilleja; and a grandson, Mark Castilleja.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years; six sons, Amadeo and wife Stella Castilleja, Carlos Castilleja, Ricardo and Delia Castilleja, Sr., Raymond Castilleja, Rudy and Sheila Castilleja, Sr., Ray and Rebecca Castilleja; two daughters, Delia Garza and Laura Ann and Victor Cortez; twenty-four grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Visitation will be from 5:00 7:00 pm with Recitation of Rosary at 7:00 pm at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple.

The family wishes to invite friends and family for food and fellowship at the St. Mary Reception Hall following the burial.
