Services for Alma Hudson Anderson, 105, of Temple, will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 5, at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple with Reverend Scott Meyer officiating. Private entombment will be at Bellwood Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
Mrs. Anderson died Saturday, October 29, at a local nursing home.
Alma Hudson Anderson was born February 23, 1911, in the Stringtown Community near Heidenheimer to William M. Hudson and Katie Alston Hudson. She married Hershel (Andy) Anderson on September 3, 1932, and he preceded her in death in 1972. Mrs. Anderson moved to Temple in 1947 and purchased the Rosalie Beauty Shop, which she operated for 60 years until her retirement in 2006. She was a member of the Western Hills Church of Christ in Temple for 49 years. Alma's life was characterized by kindness, gentleness, integrity, generosity and a good sense of humor. Above all, she loved her family and shared her love with them.
Alma was preceded in death by her husband, Andy; a daughter, Jeanene Brown; a son, Wayne Anderson; a grandson, Chris Anderson; three sisters, Lois Gunn, Ethel Dumas, and Irene Brown; and a brother, C.W. Hudson.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Sidney Anderson of Denver, Colorado; grandsons, Steven Anderson of Alaska and Joe Taylor Brown of New Mexico; three granddaughters, Emily Anderson of Denver, Colorado, Becky Brown Irvin of Moffat, and Beverly Brown of Nolanville; three great-grandsons; two great-granddaughters; and seven great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 4, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in honor of Alma may be made to Western Hills Church of Christ, 210 N. General Bruce Drive, Temple 76504.
