Albina Kratochvil Rubac passed peacefully of natural causes in Temple, Texas on July 19, 2013 at the age of 91.
Albina was born on August 20, 1921 in Mareksville, Texas to John and Louise Kratochvil. She was the fourth child of six children and a first generation American, both of her parents arrived in the United States from Czechoslavakia in their early 20s. Albina did not speak English when she started elementary school, but quickly learned and became a top student and remained a top student though out her high school years in Cameron Texas and her two years in Blinn Business School in Brenham, Texas. She married Emil Rubac on February 24, 1943, and they moved to Dallas, Texas for a few years during the war, where Albina worked as teller at a bank in downtown Dallas. At the end of the war, they moved back to Buckholts, Texas and had their first child, Richard and 9 years later, they had their second child, Linda. In the early 50s, when Emil started working for McLanes Wholesale Grocers, they moved to Temple, Texas where she spent the remainder of her life. Albina worked as an auditor for Sears and Roebuck until she retired 40 years later. After she retired, she and Emil traveled to many destinations, including Acapulco, Jamaica, Hawaii, and the Virgin Islands, as well as taking numerous cruises.
Albina was known as BMom by her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and all their friends. She was loved by everyone who knew her for her kindness, generosity and great sense of humor. She was always the first one to offer assistance, not only to her family, but to anyone who needed it. She will be greatly missed by everyone who ever knew her. Albina was a devout Catholic and her faith sustained her throughout her life on into her final reward of peace for ever after.
Albina is survived by her daughter, Linda Rubac Martinez and three grandchildren Pam Rubac, Russell Rubac and his wife Susan, and Jennifer Nagle and her husband Tom. Additionally, she has eight great grandchildren: Ryan Rubac, Preston Rubac, Alex Oard, Megan Oard, Travis Oard, Molly Rubac, Alyssa Nagle, and Tommy Nagle. She is also survived by multiple nieces and nephews who will also miss her dearly.
Albina was preceded in death by her beloved husband Emil Rubac and her beloved son Richard Rubac. All of her siblings also preceded her in death: Mary Roschetzky, Annie Schattle, Della Moraw, Emily Wade, and Frank Kratochvil.
Pallbearers will be great grandsons Ryan Rubac, Preston Rubac, and Travis Oard, and nephews Eugene Schattle, Edward Moraw, and Billie Pagach.
