Services for Adolph “Bossman” Vacha, 84 of Temple, will be held on Saturday, January 27th at 2 pm at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple. Burial with military honors will be in Seaton Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, January 26th from 5-7 pm at the funeral home.
He died Monday, January 15, 2024, at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in College Station.
Adolph was born on October 19, 1939, to Edward and Antoinette (Marik) Vacha, in Colfax County in rural Nebraska and one of nine sons. He attended schools in Howells and Clarkson, NE graduating from Clarkson High School in 1959. Adolph worked at farming before enlisting in the U.S. Army. He was inducted into the army on January 4, 1961, and was honorably discharged on December 18, 1962, as Staff Sargent E-5 rank. He was assigned at Fort Hood, Texas. Adolph held the position of cook. He received the good conduct medal and Sharpshooter (Rifle M-1). He then served in the reserves until he was honorably discharged from the United States Army on December 31, 1966.
Adolph met Bonnie Cooksey at Tom Sefcik Dance Hall in Seaton, Texas. They were married September 4, 1965, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Temple. Adolph and Bonnie enjoyed going to Louisiana to the casinos, karaoke, and dancing. They also enjoyed making trips back to Nebraska to visit family, Czech Days celebrations and family reunions. Adolph worked maintenance at ER Carpenter in Temple, Texas and retired after 25 years. He loved deer hunting and fishing and was always so happy when he bagged that special deer. In later years, Adolph enjoyed and looked forward to visiting with friends at Ratibar. Adolph will always be remembered as a fun loving and all-around friendly guy.
Adolph is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Antoinette Vacha; wife, Bonnie Vacha; brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward Vacha Jr., Lumir (Catherine) Vacha, Lambert (Bonnie) Vacha, Albin (Evelyn) Vacha, and George Vacha; sisters-in-law, Darlene Vacha, Claudette Vacha, and Lorraine Vacha.
Adolph is survived by his daughter, Emily Vacha of Caldwell, Texas; son, Gary Vacha of Fresno, California; grandchildren, Malorie (Devin) Morris, Natalie Vacha, and Alex Vacha; brothers and sisters-in-law: Leonard Vacha of Clarkson, Nebraska, James (Ruth) Vacha of Kimberling City, Missouri, and Richard Vacha of Clarkson, Nebraska; and several nieces and nephews.
