Javier "Pop-Pop" Coffia

March 10, 1967 — November 22, 2022

Belton

Javier Coffia, known as Xavier to his family and friends, a beloved husband and father, passed away on November 22, 2022, at the age of 55 in Belton, Texas.

God blessed a family and the world when Javier was born on March 10, 1967, in Temple, Texas to Janie and Ernest Coffia. Xavier graduated from Temple High School in 1985. After a sweet courtship that started in a store checkout line, Xavier married the love of his life, Pamela Sue Craft on April 6, 1991, and embraced his stepson, Christopher Craft. They welcomed the first grandchild to the Coffia side of the family with the birth of their daughter, Haley. She was the light of Xavier’s life and to talk about her always brought a sparkle to his eye.

In 1986, Xavier was employed by TP&L, which later transitioned to TXU and Oncor. He spent 36 years in a variety of positions from Lineman to Project Planning Analyst but enjoyed most of his years as a P&C Technician where he found fulfillment in serving his local community as well as other communities in times of need. He found the comradery with his fellow technicians one of the best parts of his job and built many relationships he treasured while in that role.

Xavier enjoyed hunting, golfing, fishing, and barbequing with family and friends. He introduced grandchildren, nieces and nephews to his hobbies and was always willing to take someone under his wing. He also looked forward to Thirsty Thursdays with BIL and other family members. In more recent years, Xavier found a love for RV camping and taking cruises. He loved the beach and ocean water and found time with family and friends on cruises to be the most relaxing way to travel and see the world. Xavier was a lifelong jokester always concocting the perfect prank like a strategically placed Pop It firecracker to give someone a scare. Xavier also wasn’t content to be the only family prankster, he found it important to pass this trait on to the children in the family. He instructed them in how to orchestrate pranks, much to the laughing chagrin of their parents. Xavier was always the life of the party, the entertaining uncle, and fun-loving Pop-Pop.

Xavier had a heart of service for people. He sought out opportunities to help those in need. He blessed many people and families throughout his life with his participation in charitable organizations. This is an admirable trait, but most telling about Xavier is the number of times he recognized spontaneous opportunities God put in his path to help others. It may have been family, friends, or a stranger he encountered at a store or in the hospital. Xavier had eyes that were observant, coupled with a heart to heal or fill a need. He would change his course for the moment and meet whatever need that person had, whether it was food, clothing, monetary, or to simply talk and be listened to. Xavier was always seeking a way to help others.

Xavier was preceded in death by his mother, Janie Coffia. He is survived by his wife Pamela Coffia of Belton; father, Ernest Coffia of Temple; daughter, Haley Volney (Travis) of Temple; son, Christopher Craft (Amber) of Troy; sisters, Anissa Dobbins (Andy) of Salado, and Nicole Coffia of Wylie;  grandchildren, Kaysen Volney; Wyatt and Riley Craft; step-grandchildren, Bailey, Melody, Kolby Schumacher; In Laws ,Donald (Kathy) Craft ,Cindy (Scott) Bunting, Cheryl (Roy) Yarbrough; Nieces and Nephews, Abilene Anderson, Melissa Mata, Steven Dowell, Dustin Bunting, Drew Dobbins, Bryce Dobbins, and Jordan Kirksey. Xavier was also loved throughout his life by many other aunts, uncles, and cousins.
